What Happens During a Bit & Bridle Consultation?

Understanding the Horse's History: The consultation begins with a thorough discussion of the horse's history, including any current ridden issues, in order to help establish your goals for the appointment.

Assessing Conformation and Muscular Development: A comprehensive evaluation of your horse's conformation and muscular development from a therapeutic basis, follows. This step offers insights into how your horse utilises its body and can help identify any areas of asymmetry or imbalance that may impact bit and bridle fit.

Full Assessment of Head and Mouth Conformation: Next, a detailed assessment of your horse's head and mouth conformation is conducted. This evaluation aids in determining the most suitable bridle and/or bit options, taking into account factors such as head shape, mouth anatomy conformation, and dental considerations.

Reviewing Current Bit and Bridle Setup: If applicable Sarah will then review your horse's current bit and bridle setup, analysing its fit and potential impact on your horse's comfort and performance. This step highlights any areas for improvement or adjustments that may be necessary.

Trial of Appropriate Bits and Bridles: Based on the findings from the assessment, appropriate bits, bridles, and setups are trialled, with continuous assessment of your horse's biomechanics, behaviour and rider feedback noted with each change.

Providing Personalised Recommendations: At the conclusion of the appointment, Sarah will offer her personalised recommendations for your horse. You will be under no pressure to buy anything on the day, Sarah can provide the details of the products she recommends so that you may source them, or alternatively she can order them for delivery directly to you, if stock isn't available at the time.
